Our first trip in Belgium was to the city Ieper. This small town has half a dozen cemetaries where soldiers are buried and was the town most devastated by chemical weapons during World War I. This is a picture of Tyne Cot Cemetery where there are almost 12,000 graves and a wall with almost 5,500 names of soldiers who were missing. There is a visitors center where there are artifacts from the war and letters written to families telling of the death of their sons.
